May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month

Share The Road

All motorists are reminded to safely "share the road" with motorcycles and to be extra alert to help keep motorcyclists safe. Motorcyclists are reminded to make themselves visible to other motorists.

Ride Sober or Get Pulled Over

Statistics show that the percentage of intoxicated motorcycle riders in fatal crashes is greater than the percentage of intoxicated drivers on our roads. This is why NHTSA urges all motorcycle riders to always ride smart and sober.

Motorcycle safety starts when a person decides to ride a motorcycle…..then once you decide to join a club, it is the responsibility of the club you decided to join to be concerned with the safety of their members.

It is great if there are organizations, coalitions, alliances’, etc... that focus on and promote safety amongst the motorcycle community and those efforts should continue, but DO NOT rely on the community to teach you and your club how to be safe when riding your motorcycle. Please stop looking to another organization to teach/promote safety for you. Safety starts at home, in your house….start with your club! Ask yourself “how are you, as a LEADER, as a CLUB, as an ORGANIZATION”, promoting safety amongst your members.
